Reference Agents

Reference agents are Quatrion starting patterns. They are designed to help teams triage review questions quickly, not to replace engineer judgment, specialist solvers, formal compliance checks, or release sign-off.

Page summary

First-pass design-review patterns that answer bounded engineering questions and return geometry-linked evidence.

How to read a reference agent

Each reference agent has a bounded question, a defined input set, an evidence output, and an explicit non-replacement boundary. During early access, teams typically start with one reference agent and one assembly.

Common inputs

  • Encoded assembly.
  • Review-specific specification or target zone.
  • Optional tolerance, load, material, manufacturing, occupant, or packaging context.
  • Deployment-approved tool chain and provider configuration.

Agent catalog

These agents are reference patterns for first-pass design-review triage. They return evidence for engineering review; they are not final validation tools.

Dimensional tolerance verification

Question
Which assembly joints exceed specified geometric tolerance?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Tolerance specification; Target joints or zones
Evidence
Joint or interface reference; Measurement; Tolerance status; Run provenance
Useful for
Finding candidate tolerance issues before a formal dimensional review.
Does not replace
CMM inspection, GD&T authority, lab measurement, or release approval.

Stamping / forming risk

Question
Which panels or regions may be at higher forming risk?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Panel geometry; Material and process context when available
Evidence
Panel or region reference; Risk finding; Geometry basis; Recommended follow-up
Useful for
Prioritizing panels for manufacturing engineering review.
Does not replace
Forming simulation, die tryout, material validation, or process sign-off.

NVH frequency screen

Question
Which parts or panels should be reviewed for NVH risk bands?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Target frequency bands; Relevant part or zone selection
Evidence
Part reference; Screening result; Review band; Provenance
Useful for
Selecting candidates for deeper NVH analysis.
Does not replace
Modal test, acoustic simulation, solver validation, or program sign-off.

Panel buckling / stiffness

Question
Which panels show low stiffness or buckling susceptibility?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Panel selection; Load or support assumptions when available
Evidence
Panel reference; Susceptibility finding; Geometry-linked explanation; Suggested follow-up
Useful for
Prioritizing panels for FEA or design review.
Does not replace
FEA, physical stiffness tests, material-aware solver validation, or release decisions.

Class-A continuity

Question
Where do visible surfaces or panel boundaries require continuity review?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Class-A surfaces or zones; Continuity criteria
Evidence
Surface reference; Boundary reference; Continuity classification; Visual overlay
Useful for
Screening exterior and visible surfaces for review candidates.
Does not replace
Studio surfacing approval, CAD master review, or optical-quality inspection.

Head impact zone

Question
Which interior zones should be reviewed for head-impact exposure?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Interior zone selection; Applicable envelope or criteria
Evidence
Zone reference; Surface reference; Exposure finding; Review metadata
Useful for
Early safety-zone screening and prioritization.
Does not replace
FMVSS/ECE certification, physical testing, or safety engineering sign-off.

Pillar vision obstruction

Question
Where may a pillar obstruct driver sightlines?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Occupant or eye-point assumptions; Pillar and visibility zones
Evidence
Pillar reference; Sightline reference; Obstruction finding; Viewer overlay
Useful for
Flagging candidate visibility constraints for ergonomics review.
Does not replace
Regulatory visibility certification, human factors validation, or physical bucks.

Manikin reach envelope

Question
Can target occupants reach controls or service points?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Manikin or reach envelope; Control or target locations
Evidence
Target reference; Envelope intersection; Reach finding; Assumption metadata
Useful for
Early ergonomics screening and packaging review.
Does not replace
Human factors sign-off, physical validation, or program ergonomics approval.

ICE to EV CoG migration

Question
How does a platform change affect center-of-gravity review candidates?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; Platform variants; Mass-envelope or packaging assumptions
Evidence
Variant reference; Migration finding; Affected zones; Assumption metadata
Useful for
Early packaging and dynamics triage during platform migration.
Does not replace
Mass-properties certification, vehicle dynamics simulation, or physical measurement.

Part-consolidation candidates

Question
Which parts may be candidates for consolidation review?
Inputs
Encoded assembly; BOM or part grouping context; Manufacturing constraints when available
Evidence
Candidate part group; Geometry relationship; Constraint note; Follow-up rationale
Useful for
Finding candidate simplification opportunities for engineering review.
Does not replace
DFM approval, cost engineering, tooling review, or supplier validation.

Custom SDK agent

Question
Which custom review question should run against this assembly?
Inputs
Agent manifest; Encoded assembly; Declared workflow inputs; Configured tools
Evidence
Finding; Severity; Geometry reference; Measurement or rationale; Provenance
Useful for
Adapting Quatrion to a team-specific review pattern.
Does not replace
The team's formal engineering authority, validation procedure, or release process.
